On April 16th, I had the oppertunity to compete in the Area Speech Contest held by the Rotary Club of Sparks. My speech was about what kind of impact I make on my community. I spoke about the importance of education and children’s literacy across the nation. One of the main points of my speech was about the incoming budget cut that the Washoe County Public Library System would face in July of this year.

At the end of the contest, I won second place speaker and received $500 as a prize. To thank the Rotary Club and continue my mission, I donated all my prize money to Washoe County Public Libraries.

I am so grateful for this opportunity. Thank you Rotary Club of Sparks!

I am inspired by Rotary Club to advocate for my community and give back to public libraries the way they’ve always given back to us.
